Community-supported agriculture (CSA) is a system that connects producers and consumers of food more closely by allowing the consumer to subscribe to the harvest. It is an alternative model of agriculture and food distribution that allows the producer and consumer to share the risks of farming.
What is grown on Cloughjordan Community Farm belongs to the members. Members pay a regular membership fee to contribute to administration, running costs and wages of our growers. In return we all receive a regular supply of farm fresh vegetables and herbs in season, delivered twice a week to our collection point – the “Coach House” on Main Street, Cloughjordan, near the eco-village entrance. Members can access their vegetables and herbs in the Coach House at any time using a passcode. Members can also self-harvest some items such as fruit.
Our standard membership rate is €69.33 per month, per adult in the household, and children in a household go free. We also offer a trial membership fee of €40 per month for the first two months.
Members may also optionally participate in farming activities, take part in our events, and/or get involved with farm coordination and running our social enterprise. We have regular farm walks, community meals and educational events as well as an annual AGM and members’ meeting.
