Community Outreach at Cuan Beo
Cuan Beo (“harbor of life”) is a demonstration area and center for outreach and engagement with the broader community. It consists of a wood cabin with off-grid solar, a wheelchair acessable polytunnel with space for educational activities, a cob wheelchair accessible compost toilet, and beautiful demonstration gardens.
Both the cabin and polytunnel are available for community members to book for a small fee. Heating and kitchen facilities are available.

Our community outreach focuses on the role of food and nature in a just transition, with themes of climate and food, regenerative growing, community supported agriculture, local food systems, high-nature-value farming, biodiversity, seed saving and celebrating nature and seasons.
We host events and activities at Cuan Beo, such as seasonal celebrations marking Imbolc, Bealtaine, Lughnasa and Samhain, farm walks, child-and-family-oriented craft events, and biodiversity week events, in collaboration with Cloughjordan Ecovillage.
Growing Group & Seed Bank
A growing group which meets weekly on Wednesdays for two hours at Cuan Beo, where people exchange experience and learning about growing from seed, saving seed, the importance of local, organic food and medicinal plants. There are also lively discussions about soil and biodiversity and the impact and links between food systems and climate change. As well as farm members, we encourage participation from the wider Cloughjordan and North Tipperary community. The group helps to cultivate the gardens in the Cuan Beo area.
We also maintain a seed bank grown in Cuan Beo by volunteers, which can be accessed by growers. We host an annual seed swap event in Cuan Beo in early Spring, with people from the wider community bringing seed to share which they have grown themselves, as well as collecting seed to use.
Visits and tours
We welcome visitors to the Cuan Beo area and the farm generally. We offer tours to local schools and other community groups. Please contact us if you or your group is interested in visiting.
