Cloughjordan Community Farm exists to demonstrate a viable model for diversified,
sustainable, small-scale Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) through
responsible stewardship of the land. We respect the soil, water and air through
organic methods of growing, by conserving water and by reducing fossil fuel
emissions.
We are recruiting for the above grower roles in the farm production team, with
potential in time for promotion to head farmer.
The farm hosts approximately 8 European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteers at any
one time, who volunteer on the farm for a year, as well as hosting occasional short
term volunteers. Farm produce is harvested twice per week to a distribution point
(the Coach House) where farm members collect their share.
The farm’s production team is responsible for the core growing activity of the farm.
The production team is supported by our ESC volunteer coordinators who manage
the volunteer programme, by an active voluntary board, by volunteer teams
responsible for management of farm membership, for distribution from the Coach
House, for educational and outreach programmes (Cuan Beo) and for our food-hub
value-adding activities. These teams together make up the farm coordination group,
who meet monthly. Engagement by the full farm membership (approximately 90
adults and their children) is also supported. The farm also employs a part time
book-keeper.
As Ireland’s first CSA and still the biggest example of its kind, we are keen to identify
a grower who is self-motivated, energetic and innovative, who cares about
biodiversity and soil health and, most importantly, is committed to implementing
chemical free, sustainable farming methods.
